Programs at OBC

On Sundays at 10:30 am

Blended worship with relevant Biblical preaching

Our morning celebration service is a time where we gather together for a family experience. We sing praises, share ministry opportunities, hear God’s Word read, pray for God’s wisdom, guidance and care and make known the gospel of Jesus as Good News in troubled times.

Meanwhile, for the littlest ones…

A large well designed Nursery matched with top- notch trained nursery volunteers are at hand during Sunday School and the morning service. Be assured that they will treat your children as the treasures they are. Coordinator: Dyanne Blacquier

And For your 4 – 10 year old

Children are an important part of our church family and we dedicate a lot of our energy and resources to make sure they are encouraged. During our kids_own_worshipmorning service, this growing children’s ministry is designed to meet the needs of these little people with stories, crafts, activities, snacks to help kids worship like kids. Coordinator: Andrea Hanley.

Music and worship go hand in hand, and at Oromocto Baptist, we offer many opportunities to be involved in leading and facilitating others in worship. Here are a list of various ways we have engaged gifts for worship ministry in the past year

Adult choir                        Worship Teams                    Adult Ensembles

Kids Choir                         Music Workshops                 Soloists, Duets and Trios

If you are interested in getting involved in our worship ministry in some way, please make contact with our Worship Director: Devon Palmer

Prayer is vitally important to the work at OBC, in fact it is the work of our church and it is central in our mission “To build a growing family of mature, praying and committed disciples of Jesus Christ.”  The following are areas designed to keep our church bathed in prayer.

Prayer Quilt       A quilt that holds prayer cards from the pews for issues that burden you… it will be prayed for at all prayer activities

Prayer Teams    Special requests for specific prayer items where you need to know prayer warriors are partnering with you in prayer

Prayer Line         An emergency prayer service by phone and email for those who are facing a crisis and need prayer now!

Deacon Prayer  Early Friday mornings, our deacons consistently meet and keep the needs of the church in prayer and are happy to pray for your need.

Prayer Meeting – Wednesdays at 7:00 pm

The lifeline of the Christian faith is prayer… honest, open communication with the God who calls to us to come to Him when we are weary and heavy laden.  A vibrant prayer life is something many desire, but few experience for a variety of reasons.  If you would like to change that, join us on Wednesdays at 7pm. Bring a bible, a note pad and a heart yearning to touch God’s throne. Contact Person – Pastor Perry

Middle School – Fridays at 6:00 pm

High School – Fridays at 8:00 pm

Bring your preteens and teens out on Friday nights for snacks games devotionals and fun activities.  Questions? Contact Pastor Perry

The above image was deliberately chosen because it is meant to get across the purpose of small groups here at OBC. The greater Oromocto community is unique in that most of us did not grow up here and we have been “transplanted” either due to postings or other work related reasons.  Being in a new place can be unnerving, especially when you do not know anyone, or very few people.

We believe it is not a coincidence that you are here and reading this pamphlet because God wants you to get rooted while you are here whether it be for three months or three decades.  Rooted in a community of believers and rooted in your faith.  And although we have a great time worshipping together on Sundays, growth happens in the groups.

Oromocto Baptist is dedicated to helping people grow and one of the ways we do that is through a commitment to small groups.  Every year we seek to do two major launches of groups, in February (church wide) and again in October (special interests)  These groups have spawned other groups that meet at various times of the year, at different locations and even different times of the days –mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

It is not unheard of to have up to a dozen groups running on a weekly basis when we are at full throttle.  And the reason why? Because people have a chance to work through what they believe in a safe environment and they develop friendships that can last an eternity.

Check our website regularly for small group information and feel free to connect with the office if you have any questions. Small Group Coordinator – Pastor Perry

Every October 31st we gather thousands of dollars of groceries and foodbank items from Oromocto West and Smith Subdivision which helps the Oromocto foodbank going through the busy Christmas season. We also encourage our attendees to remember the foodbank on the first Sunday of the month and bring items to the church’s collection box which we give to the foodbank the following week. A great way to help those who need it. If you’d like to know more about this, contact the church office.

 Wednesdays 9:30 am – 11:30 am

Parenting young children is a joy and a challenge. Whether you are new or experienced, stay-at-home or working full-time, the support of loving friends and family is key to a positive child-rearing experience. The program we use is intended to provide preschoolers with opportunities to challenge their minds and bodies, with an introduction to academics balanced with exercise, socialization and activity based challenges. Also kids get an opportunity to play with each other and enjoy a fun activity while moms get an opportunity to meet / visit with other moms over coffee and goodies. Coordinator: Erin Dyker

Tuesdays 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm

Kids-Club-Logo-2013Our midweek program for ages K – Grade 5, where we make use of our gymnasium for games along with snacks, stories and crafts. They will be busy and they’ll love it. This growing ministry always has room for one more kid. Coordinators: Nevin & Chris Reid

Second Tuesday of the Month at Noon

laff Join us for LAFF (Life After Fifty-Five) – This appropriately named group continues to grow as a place where people of a certain era can share, laugh and enjoy life in a fresh way.  We typically meet September to May and share a potluck lunch together.  Once in a while we do a day trip either to check out a tourist site or enjoy our annual fall leaves trip. Join us in the church gym on the second Tuesday of the month, bring something to share at the potluck and bring a friend… and be ready to LAFF. Coordinator : Pastor Perry.
